Aboriginal Interpreter Credential Program

Native Education College

Degree:Not Applicable
Field of Study:Language Interpretation and Translation

Description:

As Aboriginal tourism grows in BC there is a need for specialists in welcoming visitors and helping them see the world from an Aboriginal perspective. Aboriginal Interpreters may relate stories of the past or paint a vision of the future. They can make connections with people from distant lands and lead visitors in the exploration of our special places.

The Aboriginal Interpreter Credential program (AICP) is a made up of four courses that teach you how to interpret Aboriginal culture and the environment for visitors. This training leads to entry-level work as a tour guide at museums, resorts, ecology Colleges or cultural events. It can help you to start your own tourism business or launch your career in tourism management. Graduates will receive the Aboriginal Interpreter Credential and all credits will transfer to certificate and diploma programs at the partner institutes.
