Petroleum Engineering is more than just oil and gas: in addition to energy, petroleum-based products such as plastics are key components of virtually every consumer product and medical device we use.
Increasingly, petroleum engineers use advanced computation and modelling tools, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, not only in the analysis of exploration data and simulation of reservoir behaviour but also in the automation and design of field production and drilling operations. Petroleum engineers apply scientific understanding and technology in the extraction and management of hydrocarbon resources while also exploring ways to preserve and protect the environment. |
Additional Admission Requirements: | This program does not allow admission directly from high school.
Foundational/Qualifying Year: All students in this first year of study follow a common curriculum. At the end of the year, students choose among the various specialized Engineering programs offered and between the traditional and cooperative education streams. We have over 35 streams to choose from. See Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Qualifying Year for admissions requirements from high school.
Transfer Students: Students with transferable post-secondary coursework taken outside of the Faculty of Engineering are considered for admission based on GPA and relevant transfer credit.
