This is a program developed especially for the educational environment. It is intended to address the vast changes that have taken place in special education in recent years. This full-time, intensive 1100-hour course consists of both classroom and practical training. It has been condensed from a two-year to a one-year program in order to accommodate student preferences.
The education assistant provides a valuable service in an area of support, designed to meet the needs of students with special needs. The role varies from situation to situation, but some of the more frequent assignments include assistance with the delivery of special education programs, resource centre assignments, kindergarten assistance, school to community support, and one on one assistance for hard to serve children. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Graduates must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent, with demonstrated English communication and comprehension skills. |
