This occupation has enjoyed tremendous growth since its emergence in the late 1960's. The emphasis on hiring legal assitants and paralegals continues in both legal and law-related fields so that the cost, availability, and efficiency of legal services can be improved. Students in this challenging program will acquire the knowledge to work in most law firms either doing research or doing such background work as investigating case facts to ensure that all relevant information is uncovered. In addition, graduates of the program will possess the necessary skills to operate as independents. Legal assistants/paralegals are able to start their own businesses and provide most of the services currently available from lawyers. They will also receive the business training necessary to build their own enterprise, if that is the route they choose. |
