Theatre & Performance at U of T Scarborough seeks to unite the theoretical and practical aspects of drama and performance art. Students of this program will learn how the theoretical and the practical complement each other, and will investigate everything from the origins of theatre to contemporary performance practice. The theoretical courses focus on the history of theatre, while the practical courses allow students to become acquainted with all aspects of theatre production in studio situations, both as actors and technicians.
The courses have been designed to serve students who intend to major in Theatre & Performance, as well as those who have a casual interest in drama and the theatre. In addition, this program frequently features theatre outings and professional artist talks, workshops and residencies.
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in public productions that run on campus, as this not only helps put what they learn to practice, but may also earn them valuable production experience that is vital to launching a performance career. |
