The goal of the beginner course is to equip students with the ability to communicate with ease in normal social and every day situations using Basic English skills. The students will develop skills enabling them to make introductions and engage them in "small talk", express apologies, thanks, request information, express his / her own opinions, likes and dislikes, present short talks about his / her opinion, make / cancel reservations, short telephone calls, take messages, write simple post cards, listen to voice mail and make simple decisions. Students will be assessed on regularly scheduled oral and written quizzes, and a comprehensive exam at the end of the course orally and written.
A short conversation with each student will be taped at the end of each week to assess the student's progress. Conversation is the main focus using all the components of grammar, listening, reading, repetitious fluency exercises, basic vocabulary and basic writing skills. At the end of the course students will be able to speak, listen, read and write at a survival and basic level. |
