The graduate program in printmaking emphasizes studio activities and the development of personal statements through the medium of printmaking. Students work in a new studio providing privacy, individual work space and equipment for printing in all media. Successful applicants to the MFA program generally have a BFA degree with advanced courses in the studio area they are applying to, a demonstrated interest in continuing their studies at the graduate level and in professional art practice, a well-developed idea of a direction for their visual thesis, and an exceptional portfolio that demonstrates an advanced level of work in their area of interest. After all program requirements have been satisfactorily met, candidates present an exhibition of their creative work. Such a presentation will be considered the equivalent of a master's thesis. The Department of Art and Design reserves the right to select and retain up to two works from the final thesis presentation. |
