As the mining industry in Canada continues to explode, the need for trained supervisors in the areas of surface mining, surface and underground diamond drilling operations, and surface and underground mining trades, is growing exponentially. This Common Core for Generic First Line Supervisors program was designed to meet such a need.
Industry consultations have shown us that there are not enough trained supervisors to meet the increasing demands being placed on the mining industry. With the “safety first” attitude that we see in today's mining industry, having trained supervisors is essential to ensure the safe operations of any mining related project. This program is intended for supervisors directly employed by a mine or diamond drilling company who supervise workers in surface mining operations, surface and underground diamond drilling operations, and surface and underground mining trades. This group includes: stripping, drilling, blasting (pits and quarries), material handling and electrical and mechanical trades. It would be expected that these supervisors would already have completed training in the areas they will be supervising. |
