Our tradition in the Graduate Program in English at YorkU has always been to challenge the idea of tradition itself, to seek out the limits of established ideas, and to attend to new ones. We are proud of our reputation for adventurous, interdisciplinary, and innovative approaches to literature. Trail-blazing into the new, creating valuable knowledge, and assessing significance in every field of literary history, criticism and theory requires truly comprehensive knowledge, skilful research, and thought-provoking writing. Our program is carefully and supportively designed to help students develop into the next generation of important scholars.
