The Metals & Aerospace Technology course is designed to provide the student with the skills and knowledge necessary to establish a career in the Manufacturing and Aerospace industries. The skills learned are very transferable to the many career choices within the industries. On completion of the program, the student will be well prepared for direct entry into the workforce or for further study at University or community college.
This program will provide training on machine tools such as engine lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, bandsaws, drilling machines, shears, brakes and bending machines. Instruction in blueprint reading, drafting, practical mathematics and measuring tools is combined with all of the courses. In addition, training will be given in various welding processes including oxy-acetylene welding, electic arc welding, Metal Inert Gas (M.I.G) and Tungsten Inert Gas (T.I.G) welding.
The program, with its high transferability and flexibility will bring the student to a state of preparedness to enter the workforce, or to continue on to secondary education with knowledge and capability. |
