The Department of Sociology includes among its research and teaching strengths the six core areas of concentration designated in its doctoral program: aging; gender; health; political sociology/social movements; social inequality; and cultural, social, and political thought. Graduate studies in sociology are designed to emphasize the connections between core areas and to encourage students to develop competencies in more than one area, particularly at the doctoral level. |
