Description:

The Department of Political Science offers a Master's degree in most fields of Political Science. The Ph.D. program is open to students with research interests in contemporary political theory, transnational politics and global political economy, democratic constitutionalism, comparative public policy and governance, or cultural, social and political thought. The emphasis of the Master's program is on developing the analytical capacities, theoretical understanding, and research skills necessary for further work as a political scientist, policy analyst, diplomat, journalist, social activist, or public servant. The Ph.D. program is for students interested in pursuing an academic career in Political Science. It may also be appropriate as preparation for other forms of research career.

Prerequisites:

    The normal minimum for admission to the M.A. program is a Bachelor of Arts, preferably in Political Science, with an average of A (8.0 GPA) in the final two full years of study leading to this degree. Students without a strong background in Political Science may be considered for admission upon completing a non-degree undergraduate unclassified year of course work in upper-level political science courses and attaining first-class standing.
