The study of sexuality encompasses sexual acts, identities, cultures, and movements, but much more as well. The Sexuality Studies Program at York examines sexuality in diverse, interdisciplinary, and transnational contexts. Courses focus on a variety of challenging and fascinating topics, including same-sex marriage, transgender and transsexual rights, interracial sex, sex work, sex tourism, public sex, sexual health, sexual reproduction, sexual violence, and pornography. Interdisciplinary courses approach these and other topics from multiple perspectives, while discipline-based courses in Anthropology, English, History, Sociology, and other fields are also part of the program.
