Description:

The Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) Program is a two-year diploma program designed to help students gain the entry-level knowledge and skills they need to practice emergency and non-emergency paramedicine care and to function as a vital member of the health care team. Graduates will be able to perform the competencies identified in the National Occupational Competency Profile for Advanced Care Paramedics and will be prepared to write a provincial licensure exam. Graduates will demonstrate ethical behaviours consistent with professional and employer expectations.

The theory portion of the program is delivered over the course of 6 academic terms. The program includes hospital, intermediate, and advanced care practicums. Students will practice patient assessment and emergency treatment. Students will develop critical thinking skills that will allow them to develop an appropriate differential diagnosis and treatment pathway for their patients.

Students are responsible for costs related to travel and accommodations for the on-site sessions and practicums. Students are required to have a laptop or tablet, compatible with competency tracking software, with a screen no smaller than 9" to complete the programs. Remote internet access is mandatory.
