Description:

Graduate students can select twelve graduate degree programs in the Department of Renewable resources that fall under five broad topic areas: Conservation Biology, Forest Ecology and Management, Agriculture and the Environment, Reclamation and Restoration of Land and Water, and Environmental Soil Science. Our academic and support staff are committed to offering a friendly and welcoming environment for students. We are proud of our undergraduate programs in forestry, conservation biology, land reclamation and sustainable agriculture. We have a friendly atmosphere where professors take pride in their teaching, developing personal contacts with undergraduate students. Our graduate students come from diverse backgrounds and many countries. We offer research opportunities for graduate students in basic research problems at the organism, soil process or ecosystem level, but many of our graduate students study the management of ecosystems, linking their work to solving real-world problems. The work that we do has never been more relevant given the stresses on ecosystems because of demand for resources, climate change and loss of biodiversity. Our research and teaching is front and centre in society’s quest for sustainability and we are proud of our connections with the community at a local national and international level.
