The Ph.D. degree in Biology is centered on conducting original research. Graduates will be prepared for careers requiring advanced independent research and teaching in academia, government, and industry. Formal milestones for the programs include regular meetings with the faculty advisory committee, approval of a research proposal, formal oral presentation of the research, writing of a thesis, and a final defense of the work. Each Ph.D. student is required to be a teaching assistant for at least two terms. |
