Description:

Ultrasonography encompasses the medical use of sound waves to evaluate internal anatomy in real time and to produce diagnostic images. With the continuously expanding applications of ultrasound in today’s technologically advanced society, it has made for an exciting and demanding career field. Ultrasound images are used by Radiologists to retrieve critical information regarding the patient and their subsequent diagnosis and treatment. Ultrasound has grown to include applications in abdomen, obstetrics, gynecology, vascular and superficial structures.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    To be accepted into the Diagnostic Ultrasonography program, an individual must have successfully completed an accredited program in Medical Radiation Technology (Medical Radiography, Radiation Therapy or Nuclear Medicine) and possess a certificate of registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Interested applicants must submit an official application form along with a certified copy of: (1) high school marks (2) Medical Radiation Technology program marks (3) results of CAMRT examinations and (4) proof of current registration with the CAMRT.
