Description:

Our interdisciplinary research training programs provide a unique opportunity for integrated learning. Our students develop the skills and expertise necessary to conceive and conduct innovative, independent research and to prepare for a career of lifelong scholarship. We offer our students an enriched research training environment using cutting-edge technology, and through strong collaborative links with colleagues in a range of fields. The affiliated Centre for Research on Language, Mind & Brain, founded and currently directed by faculty members of the School, highlights the remarkable breadth and depth of language research at McGill University. Our research training programs encompass the latest paradigms to study human communication and its disorders across the lifespan. This covers fundamental research on speech and language production and perception, to investigations of the effectiveness of clinical intervention.

    Applicants should normally have a master's degree with thesis or its equivalent in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field (e.g., psychology, linguistics). Students who possess an appropriate bachelor’s degree or master’s degree without thesis will also be considered for the Ph.D. program, but, if admitted, must first complete a qualifying year of coursework and a research project.

    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 237] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 95] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 587] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 7]
