The Combined Master of Science (MSc)-Dietetic Internship Program is a joint program of St.Michael's Hospital/Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto, Department of Nutritional Sciences. The goal of this program is to train individuals to become dietetic practitioners with advanced research skills. The Combined MSc-Internship program is based on the existing Graduate Dietetic. Internship program offered at St. Michael's Hospital/Hospital for Sick Children and the MSc program offered by the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. The Master of Public Health specializing in Community Nutrition (MPH) shares many of these aims but has a more specific purpose as well. The objective of the MPH-Community Nutrition is the development of knowledge and skills required to assess nutritional needs of the community, and to design, implement and evaluate community nutrition programs. The specialization is intended to provide professional preparation for the student with specific interest in a career as a public health or community nutrition consultant with government, large community organizations or industry. As a result, major emphasis is placed on course work, practica and self-learning. The program and its requirements are described in a separate section.

    For admission to the M.Sc. program a four year University of Toronto Bachelor's degree, or its equivalent from a recognized university, is required with an average equivalent to a University of Toronto A- (80-84%) in the final two years or evidence of strong potential as a researcher, having a specialized background in nutrition or other areas of biological or health sciences.
