The Department of Modern Foreign Languages offers majors in French or Spanish and minors in French, German, Polish, or Spanish. Additional offerings may include courses in American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Latin. Students in the department acquire language skills as well as awareness of the respective cultures. They are encouraged to participate in a study abroad program.
A major or minor in a foreign language affords students an introduction to numerous careers, including teaching, business and industry, government positions, and service positions. The combination of foreign language study with other academic programs -- such as social work, teaching, nursing, criminal justice, business -- increases career opportunities. |
