In the contemporary art world, the boundaries between media and disciplines are breaking down and widening the scope of artistic expression. Our Drawing/Intermedia program gives students the opportunity to explore and expand on approaches ranging from traditional drawing and photography methods to installation, digital media and performance art, and to extend their visual language by relating their work to a range of contemporary issues. The guiding philosophy of Drawing/Intermedia is to engage deeply with the social, political, and creative purpose of artistic practice, and to explore media that best reflect students' personal engagement with ideas, critical thinking and critical theory as they move through our program. In addition to studio practice, a significant amount of research is expected, involving theoretical study and discussion. Students have access to all full-time Faculty, who conduct studio visits and provide continuous feedback and comments to help them develop as professional artists. |
