Description:

This program emphasizes practical hands-on infrastructure practices in design civil engineering. All aspects of design, drafting and construction methods are taught in lecture format augmented by on-site field visits. Instruction in the current building construction practices, civil infrastructure construction standards and current computer drafting technologies ensure students will have the knowledge, skills and competency to enter this labor force immediately upon graduation. This diploma program is nationally accredited by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB). Graduates from this diploma program will be eligible for Certified Technician registration with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) (2 years work experience and at least 1 year work experience in Canada are required).

This program is fully instructor-led, allowing students to gain knowledge quickly through architectural design concepts to building construction. The curriculum includes lectures facilitated by specialized industry experts. The program also includes work experience (practicum) at a various architecture, interior design or engineering firms. Brighton Civil Infrastructure Design Technology diploma will be granted upon successfully completion of all courses.

    Applicants are required to have a high school diploma (or equivalent) or mature student status; Grade 10 Math, or pass the college mathematics assessment; and Grade 10 English or pass the college admissions test.
