The Community Health Sciences (PhD) program prepares you for a career teaching community health sciences, training other researchers, designing and executing major research projects and serving as a senior advisor or consultant in health care policy and planning. To be considered for admission to the Community Health Sciences (PhD) program, you must have: One of the following degrees: A thesis-based master's degree in community health sciences or public health with content equivalent to that offered by the department, or A thesis-based master's degree in basic medical sciences, biological or social sciences, or A thesis-based professional master's degree such a nursing, education or social work A satisfactory English language proficiency test score, if applicable. Higher English language test scores are normally required to be competitive in the admissions review process, particularly for the writing band of these specific English language tests: IELTS: An overall score of at least 7, must include all components of the test (i.e., listening, reading, writing and speaking), where the writing band is not lower than a score of 7. TOEFL (iBT): a minimum total score of 92 is required, with a writing score no lower than 21 If an applicant does not meet these writing score requirements, the Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP) is accepted if completed prior to starting the program. |
