Description:

The applied theatre specialism allows you to develop work outside mainstream theatre, challenging you to re-think what you know about theatre. Applied theatre is best understood as an umbrella term for a range of socially engaged and participatory performance practices. You could find yourself working in a range of roles in the community, education, voluntary or health sectors. We have seen our graduates collaborate with South African communities to share their stories and our students create performance-based programmes for social workers.

During the course you will complete several modules including performance in context, facilitation and entrepreneurship, guided by experienced lecturers who have worked directly in a variety of community settings – from hospitals and schools to community centres and museums to prisons.
