Law with Politics explores the key principles, doctrines, and application of law alongside the theories and importance of politics in society. By engaging with English, European, and international law and politics, you will be equipped to consider the relationship between the two disciplines in theory and in practice. Both branches of your study will be informed by our research expertise and will nurture you in the development of valuable, critical and analytical practices that will equip you for a wide range of careers.
Your first year will provide you with a strong grounding in the structure of the English legal system through the study of public law, the law of contracts, tort law and property law. You will also be introduced to the key features of politics and why it is so integral to modern societies and undertake a critical comparison of a number of democratic systems. During this year, you will be introduced to the skills specifically required for studying law, including researching legislation and case-law, reading judgments and legal writing. |
