Description:

At King's, we believe that the knowledge and appreciation that come from the study of literature can be a source of constant delight and culture fulfilment to us throughout our lives. The Department of Modern Languages offers courses in English, French, Italian studies, film, writing, and speech. In French, the first-year courses are designed to develop your ability to read, understand, and speak the language with a facility and confidence sufficient for your immediate academic needs. Courses in the senior years build upon this foundation. Some course titles include: French civilization, translation, literary theory and criticism, and women writers of France and French Canada.

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 85] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60] or Test of Written English (part of TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
Application Notes : Students admitted to King's University College must be proficient in written and spoken English. Applicants for whom English is not their first language and who have not lived or studied in an English language environment for a period of at least 4 years will be required to write one of the following tests: T.O.E.F.L. (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - a written score of 580 or higher and a score of 4.5 on the TWE or a score of 83 on Internet Based Test (IBT) with no section less than 20; DUO (Duolingo)- a minimum score of 115 overall with a minimum 100 for each subscore; I.E.L.T.S. (International English Language Testing System) - a score of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any section; or C.A.E.L. (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment) - a minimum score of 60 is required with no part less than 60.
