Description:

What is the best way to look at a film? Sometimes in Film and Media, our students look at a film or a video as they might a book or a poem in another course; and sometimes they dissect it the way they might a specimen in a biology lab. It's all part of the way our unique program looks at film and media from "both sides of the screen" - as an intricate technical and artistic practice but also as a field with its own varied theory and rich history. Working in the department's new home in the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, students learn digital design and communications, scriptwriting, cinematography, directing, editing, and sound recording and mixing for documentary, animation, multimedia, fiction, and experimental productions.
