The fashion industry is very competitive and companies are meticulous in assessing customer demand and market trends when selecting their product ranges; the roles of a buyer and a merchandiser are key in this process. This degree, taught in the Department of Apparel, gives you an understanding of buying practice, sourcing, product development and a knowledge of how fashion business operates in order to help you to become a successful professional in a truly exciting field of work. The course is aimed at developing your fashion awareness alongside your business acumen and you are encouraged to be innovative and engage with business issues. You will also have the opportunity to go on placements in the UK or abroad and undertake study trips; previous students have been to Florence, Shanghai and Paris. You can also opt to study a language. We also offer a four-year sandwich route option where you spend your third year on industrial placement to enhance your employability. |
