Our biochemistry courses cover all aspects of the applied biochemistry and the biotechnology industry, such as intellectual property and patents, commercialising technology, and entrepreneurship, with lectures and case studies from biotechnology business leaders and academics. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of biological chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and enzyme structure and function at the beginning of your degree. The third year offers you the opportunity to spend time either working in a relevant industry or completing research informed by your interests. In your fourth and final year, which accounts for the majority of your final degree grade, you will select modules in areas you would like to specialise in, suited to your interests and career plans, having covered the fundamentals in years one and two. You will also complete a laboratory-based research project or literature-based dissertation. |
