Our Criminology and Sociology degree offers students a fascinating introduction to the contemporary subjects of criminology and sociology. Teaching is informed by research and current social debate. This course aims to enable students to develop their understanding of both subject areas and apply that knowledge to real-life issues. Students will have the opportunity to analyze the different constructions of everyday social life in order to understand better the diverse groups and structures that make up modern society.
This degree aims to offer a range of modules, drawing upon the expertise of criminologists and sociologists in the School of Social and Political Sciences. In utilising staff expertise, this degree aims to engage in research led teaching, in order to provide students with the opportunity to develop an insight into innovative academic theories and practices. The modules are designed to advance students’ discipline specific knowledge and also provide them with the opportunity to develop a range of cognitive and practical skills. The program is therefore not only designed to develop a student’s specialist sociological knowledge, but aims to equip students with a set of transferable skills that may be relevant to further academic study and employment. |
