Architectural engineers (also called building services engineers in the UK) make sure that buildings reliably function as intended by architects. Their specialisms include heating, ventilation, lighting, power, escalators and security. At Northumbria, our Mechanical and Architecture Engineering courses focuses on sustainability, ensuring that our graduates acquire the skills they need to become specialists in building energy modelling and passive design techniques.
The first three years of the course, or four years if you undertake a year-long industrial placement, are the same as our BEng (Hons) Mechanical and Architectural Engineering. You’ll then complete a further year to gain your MEng. This final year allows you to further explore the design, analysis and modelling of advanced engineering solutions.
