This course gives you the chance to develop and further extend your combined interests in English language and literature. You will learn about the forms and functions of English and examine the use of language in its social and cultural context, while exploring a range of literary and non-literary texts from the Renaissance to the present day and from the West Indies to the West Midlands.
Throughout the programme, you will be given the theoretical, philosophical and contextual tools with which to critically examine the process of linguistic analysis and literary interpretation.
