Students interested in various areas of human development, including functional movement, human disorders, and injury and rehabilitation will find a career match with CDI College’s Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant (Occupational Therapist Assistant - Physiotherapist Assistant) program. This diploma program prepares graduates with the basic knowledge, skills, values and behaviours necessary for employment in community and private agencies, hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centres. Physiotherapist assistants and occupational therapist assistants play a significant role, working in partnership with and under the supervision of physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Courses in the Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program focus on understanding human development and the human body. Students will study body mechanics and systems, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, therapeutic exercise, and the use of advanced technological equipment. Client care is also a strong focus; record management and client communications are invaluable skills for students to learn. In addition to classroom study, students are required to complete clinical placements in the community. Students are given an opportunity to complete their practicum in whichever specialty field they choose. |
