In your first year, you will be introduced to the basic sciences underpinning medical science - anatomy, chemistry, biochemistry, genes and disease, law and ethics, microbiology, physiology, and epidemiology. You will also undertake a course in "Human Skills in Medicine" which provides you with knowledge and skills in communication and interaction with patients.
In second year, you will study these areas in greater depth and take medically focused courses in immunology, infectious disease, pharmacology, metabolism, structural biochemistry, and molecular genetics, as well as undertaking a capstone course (Integrated Medical Sciences) which integrates and applies the knowledge of basic sciences learned in your first and second years. This degree, designed for high-achieving secondary school leavers, provides the opportunity for you to progress directly into our Doctor of Medicine (5099)*. |
