CDI College’s Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant (Occupational Therapist Assistant - Physiotherapist Assistant) diploma program gives graduates the basic knowledge, skills, values and behaviours necessary for employment in the community and private agencies, hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centres. Physiotherapist assistants and occupational therapist assistants have an important role, working in partnership with and under the supervision of physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Courses in the Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program focus on understanding human development and the human body. Students will study body mechanics and systems, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, and therapeutic exercise. Client care is also a strong focus; record management and client communications are invaluable skills for students to learn. In addition to classroom study, students are required to complete clinical placements in the community. Students are given an opportunity to complete their practicum in whichever speciality field they choose.
