Incorporating the principles of the physical sciences to understand the operation of living systems is one of the next frontiers in Science, particularly with applications to society. Students who earn this degree are expected to be competitive in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceutical science and other aspects of medicinal chemistry, and environmental technology. This Joint Major program is offered by the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in the Faculty of Science.
