Description | The Applied Social Sciences is a broad area of study that draws on the rich and intertwined histories and contributions of both sociology and social work. A Social Work major/minor at Redeemer emphasizes a belief in the dignity and worth of human beings and respect for individual differences. It includes an active study of social justice, anti-oppressive practice, and cultural pluralism. Next, you will explore bio-psycho-social-spiritual variables that affect individual development, examine the interactions among individuals and between individuals and social systems, and learn how to intervene to enhance the well being of people by shaping social policies, services, and resources. | | |
