In 1984, four talented and courageous women pooled their varied experiences to develop their vision of a dance training centre offering exceptional quality instruction for Vancouver. Gisa Cole, Nicola Follows, Helen Evans, and Andrea Porter founded the collective studio Main Dance Place. Housed in the former Arcadian Hall at 6th and Main it became the home of MainDance until an arson fire of December 1993 destroyed the heritage building. The new revitalized studios are now located on Hastings Street in Vancouver's downtown eastside.

We believe that graduates need to be entrepreneurial in their approach to their developing career. It is essential that they have a strength and clarity in communication and be well voiced in presenting their visions choreographically but also in the form of proposal and applications. They must also have very clear and strong leadership skills in the form of directing and teaching and finally they must be able to multi task and have excellent time management skills.
Students put on performances through out the year. Please check the website for upcoming performances.
