Profile

The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 579 incorporated the Carpenters Millwrights College (CMC), formerly Carpenters Training Institute (CTI), in February of 1996. It was established for those seeking employment in residential and commercial building construction. The College was the first in the Province to receive Program Accreditation for Carpentry, and continues to lead the industry with quality training programs tailored specifically to the needs of workers within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. CMC is the only school on the Avalon Peninsula offering the Advanced Level Carpentry Apprenticeship Program. The College is also the only one east of Ontario that has a Scaffolding facility.
