Description:

For students interested in earning a bachelor of arts degree in History, this associate of arts degree provides two years of university transferable courses that fulfill most or all of the requirements to enter the third year of a major or honours program in History.

To understand the present and move forward into the future, you have to know where you've come from. Get a handle on where the world is headed by learning how the past is still shaping our current realities. These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
  •  Grade12 English 
Admission to the program requires the completion of English 12 with a grade of "C" or better or written permission of the Instructor and School Chair. Other prerequisites depend on the electives chosen to complete the program and should be determined with the advice of a Selkirk College counsellor. If you are a student who lacks the admission requirements, you may still gain entry to the program by taking a combination of upgrading and university courses in your first year. This may extend the length of your program.

  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.0] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 79-80] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213]
Application Notes : If your first language is not English, you must meet the following English Language Proficiency requirements for entry in to Selkirk College University Transfer, Diploma or Degree programs: completion of BC English 12, or equivalent; or completion, with a grade of "C+" or better, advanced core courses in the Selkirk College English Language Program and Provincial Level English 51; or submission of a TOEFL score of 213 (computer) or ibt 79-80 or better; or submission of an IELTS score of 6.0 or better; or submission of an EIKEN Grade Pre -1; or submission of an acceptable score on the Language Proficiency Index score of 4 or better. For Indian students coming through the SPP program, the IELTS requirement for diploma programs is 6.0 with no band less than 5.5.
