Description:

Thirty years of teaching Log Building has refined the process into a doable four week course, taking the student from basic to complex joinery. The project is a 16’ x 24’ log house, designed to incorporate Scandinavian Scribed Saddle Notch corners and Scribed French Peice-sur-Piece log walls with in a Square Rule Post and Beam Frame work. This modular design will be constructed in components that are generic, storable and yet still custom hand-crafted with traditional joinery. Various work stations utilizing innovative jigs allow simultaneous fabrication; no waiting until the last person finishes his/her log. This results in Us being able to teach You more skills in a shorter time period! The process allows one to use shorter(less than perfect) building logs without the need for a large crane. The design, tools and Instruction we provide at ISBA enables our graduates to enter the log building industry or apply this knowledge to wards his/her future building projects.
