Adult Basic Education includes six levels of study ranging from basic literacy to course work at the Grade twelve level. Courses in this program enable participants to learn or relearn skills needed to meet employment, personal or educational goals. Participants often enroll in the program as a first step to entering a certificate or diploma program. Students may take ABE courses on a full-time or part-time basis. Due to the range of courses available the course offerings will vary at each program location (community learning centres and campuses). These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Applicants wishing to apply to this program must be at least seventeen years of age and out of school for at least one year. They may also be required to complete an entrance placement test to assess English and Mathematics skills. |
