This eight-month program offers students with disabilities the opportunity to gain self-management and employment skills and develop realistic career objectives in their chosen field while in the classroom. Students will participate in a series of employability workshops such as WHMIS, Food Safe, and SuperHost, etc. They will learn basic computer skills, including word processing and using e-mail and internet. In addition, students gain on-the-job experience while on community-based work placements. Overall, the program will provide the employability, skills, and experience necessary for students to find employment or gain access to further training at UCFV or elsewhere. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. For entry into the Workplace TASK program, students must have a history of a disability, complete an interview with a UCFV Workplace TASK instructor to determine suitability for the program, demonstrate essential independent self-management skills, and provide two references. |
