If you are a former Canadian-educated practical nurse or internationally educated nurse and wish to regain your licence to work as an LPN, you can achieve your goal through a combination of transfer credit, prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR), challenge exams, and part-time online learning with NorQuest College. You have up to five years to complete the Practical Nurse Refresher program. |

• Submission of a document from the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) or another province’s/country’s professional association verifying you were a member in good standing; or a referral letter from the same organization. Contact the Office of the Registrar, Admissions at 780.644.6000 if verification is not available; your academic background may be deemed acceptable.
Admission requirements for Canadian-educated practical nurses: • Graduate of a recognized Practical Nurse program as confirmed by the CLPNA
Admission requirements for internationally educated applicants: • Graduate of a recognized RN/BScN program in your country of origin • An original official transcript from your nursing education institution, with translations into English (see Transcripts for more information) • Course descriptions or outlines of the courses you have taken in your nursing program • Birth certificate and picture identification with your legal name or a passport
