If you are keen on pursuing a qualification in food and health with a focus on human nutrition, then this new degree programme may interest you. Nutrition, the interaction between food and health, is becoming increasingly important in our society today. This programme will aim to give you a holistic understanding of food and health, underpinned by a strong scientific background.

Graduating as a nutritionist, you will have the skills to apply your knowledge to promote an understanding of the effects of diet and lifestyle on health and well-being in people. UCD aims to have this BSc degree accredited with the Nutrition Society. Thus, all graduates would have professional accreditation as a nutritionist.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Domestic applicants are required to have passes in six subjects (including two at minimum HC3) including: Irish, English, Mathematics, one laboratory science subject, and two other recognised subjects.

    Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma: The minimum for consideration is minimum score of C in six subjects, which includes a minimum of B in two subjects, with English and specific programme requirements.
