These are three-year honours bachelor degree programmes, often followed by a two-year Master of Engineering (ME) programme to complete the education and formation of a professional engineer. This "two-cycle" approach is becoming the norm for professional education in most European countries. This is a flexible three year programme leading to a two years master’s in engineering, and laying the foundations for a career in engineering or technology. This three-year degree programme provides a strong foundation in the mathematics and science subjects on which all engineering is based. It also allows you to choose from a wide range of Engineering modules, depending on your interests and your future plans. The key word is flexibility - taking advantage of UCD Horizons to give you great choice in what you study, and also in what you do afterwards.
You might decide that the BSc (Engineering Science) degree will be an end in itself and use it as a good technical education for your career. Or you might use this degree as a foundation for further study in a different area - perhaps in business or in medicine. If you wish to become a professional engineer you will need to continue your engineering education to obtain a Master of Engineering (ME) degree in some area of specialisation. |
