The Master of Arts in Geography is a one year taught Masters course aimed not only at encouraging students to engage more deeply with the areas studied at undergraduate level but also with honing their skills in independent research. The course offers students the opportunity to study a range of modular topics taught by a very strong and highly experienced academic staff and also to pursue their individual areas of interest further through a supervised dissertation. It is thus a degree that can either stand on its own or serve as an excellent springboard for those with an ambition to progress towards doctoral study. Areas that MA students may explore in detail include the Environment, Urban Geography and Irish Geographical History, Sustainable Development, Political Geography and the geography of regions such as Ireland, Europe in general, Latin America, the Middle East and the US. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. The normal requirement for entry to a Master's degree programme is a second class honours degree in a relevant subject. |
