Description:

An electrical engineering technologist is trained to understand the principles in the design and safe operation of electrical power systems including power generation and distribution, lighting, electric machines, and automated controls. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are an asset in this program especially when it comes to designing, testing, and troubleshooting equipment and systems. As a result of this training, graduates can find employment in a wide variety of sectors, and can also be given advanced standing in engineering degree programs at a number of Canadian universities.

Electrical engineering technologists may find employment in areas such as energy management, consulting engineering firms, lighting design firms, technical sales, equipment manufacturing companies, electrical distribution firms, process industries, power-generation plants, electrical maintenance, technical support, and supervisory positions.
