Description:

Students in the new Insurance and Financial Advisory Services 410.C0 program learn to perform various activities related to insurance and financial services. Students share a common curriculum with other Business Administration programs emphasizing basic business and computer skills and introducing them to major areas of concern in the business world. In their fourth semester students start to concentrate on courses related to Insurance and Financial Advisory Services. This approach allows students to become familiar with general business concepts and terminology including concepts related to finance and insurance, before they undertake courses specifically related to their program.

Graduates of the new Insurance and Financial Advisory Services program will be ready for interesting careers in insurance, finance and banking, as supervisors, finance and insurance clerks, loan officers, insurance adjusters and claims examiners, insurance underwriters, insurance agents and brokers and as banking, insurance and other financial clerks. This program prepares students to work in a customer-based industry and is especially suited to students who are interested in other people.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Admission to the College is on the basis of the Quebec secondary School Diploma (Diplôme d’études secondaires); or the Québec Diploma of Vocational Education (Diplôme d’études professionnelles) with Secondary 5 first & second languages as well as Secondary 4 Mathematics; or equivalent schooling completed outside the province.

    Math CST 564-406/426 and in fact Math TS/SN 506 is recommended since it is prerequisite to Calculus 1.
    Application Notes : PROFICIENCY IN SPOKEN FRENCH: Professionals in the Insurance and Financial Services sectors are expected to communicate in French and English with clients in the banking, insurance and business settings served by Montreal companies and institutions. French language proficiency may be tested as a condition of admission to the program.
