Description:

Qualified college or university graduates gain direct admission into year two (semester three) of this three-year program and receive their advanced diploma in two years (four semesters plus two work terms). The Food Science Technology program integrates and applies knowledge within the disciplines of microbiology, chemistry, engineering, biology, and nutrition to preserve, process, package, and distribute foods that are healthy, affordable, desirable, and safe to eat. The program will prepare students for food science careers in areas including quality control/ assurance, laboratory analysis, product development, and food safety.

Prerequisites:

    College diploma or university degree in chemistry/biology or engineering, or related discipline. Co-op Requirements: Minimum 2.5 CGPA and completion of all core courses and a minimum C grade in COMM-170-171 are required to qualify for COOP-221 and subsequent co-op work placements. Departmental academic standards for co-op eligibility also apply.
